Dr. L. Pearce McCarty III is an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in shoulder, elbow, and sports medicine. He practices with Allina Health Orthopedics in Minnesota and serves as Chair of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Abbott Northwestern Hospital. His clinical expertise includes shoulder arthroscopy, rotator cuff repair, shoulder instability, shoulder arthroplasty, cartilage restoration, and complex reconstructive procedures.

Dr. McCarty earned his medical degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine, completed his orthopaedic surgery residency through the Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Residency Program, and completed a fellowship in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine at Rush University Medical Center. He also holds an MBA from Duke University's Fuqua School of Business.
